Systemic inequality
Systemic inequality refers to the way social systems and institutions—like education, employment, healthcare, and the justice system—create and maintain unequal opportunities and outcomes for different groups of people. These disparities are often rooted in historical, cultural, and structural factors, leading to advantages for some while disadvantaging others based on traits like race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Unlike individual prejudice, systemic inequality is embedded in the way society functions, making it difficult for affected groups to achieve equal footing without deliberate change to these underlying structures.
