Luddites

Luddites were a group of English textile workers in the early 19th century who opposed the Industrial Revolution's technological advancements. They feared that new machinery, such as power looms, would replace their jobs and undermine their skilled labor. In response, they organized protests and sometimes destroyed the machines. The term "Luddite" has since come to refer more generally to anyone who resists or fears technological change, often associated with concerns about job loss, privacy, or societal impacts. Their movement highlights the tension between innovation and the livelihoods of workers.
