Low-temperature Physics

Low-temperature physics, also known as cryogenics, is the study of how materials behave at extremely cold temperatures - often near absolute zero, which is -273.15 degrees Celsius. Scientists are particularly interested in this field because these extremely low temperatures often reveal new and fascinating insights about the laws of physics. For instance, substances can become superconductors, letting electricity flow without resistance, or transform into superfluids, which flow without friction. This area of physics has wide applications, from designing medical and scientific equipment to quantum computing.
