Lord Irwin
Lord Irwin, also known as Edwin Montagu, was the Viceroy of India from 1926 to 1931 during British colonial rule. He is notable for his role in the Round Table Conferences, which aimed to discuss constitutional reforms in India. Irwin's tenure was marked by significant events, including the Civil Disobedience Movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. He is often remembered for his moderate approach toward Indian self-governance, advocating for some degree of political reform and dialogue between Indians and the British government, amidst rising nationalist sentiments and social unrest in the country.
