Dharasana Satyagraha
The Dharasana Satyagraha was a peaceful protest in 1930 India against British salt laws, led by Mahatma Gandhi. Indian protestors, including many women, marched to challenge British salt monopoly and taxation. When British guards tried to suppress them, they responded with nonviolent resistance, refusing to fight back even as they were beaten. This act of civil disobedience drew global attention to India’s independence movement and showcased the power of nonviolent protest. It emphasized that brave, peaceful resistance could challenge unjust authority without violence, inspiring similar movements worldwide.
