Linear B

Linear B is an ancient script used for writing Mycenaean Greek, primarily from the 15th to 12th centuries BCE. It was discovered in the ruins of the Mycenaean civilization in Greece and consists of symbols representing both sounds and syllables. Linear B was mainly used for administrative and economic records, documenting transactions, inventories, and offerings to the gods. After the fall of the Mycenaean civilization, the script fell out of use, and it wasn't until the mid-20th century that archaeologists deciphered it, revealing important insights into early Greek language and culture.
