Aegean writing systems

The Aegean writing systems, primarily Linear A and Linear B, were used in ancient Greece. Linear A, dating to around 1800–1450 BCE, remains undeciphered and was used mainly by the Minoans for administrative purposes. Linear B, developed around 1400 BCE by the Mycenaeans, is an early form of Greek and has been deciphered; it reveals records of palaces and inventories. These scripts represent some of the earliest writing systems in Europe and provide insights into early civilization, commerce, and governance in the Aegean region.
