Lateral Ankle Ligament

The lateral ankle ligament is a group of ligaments located on the outside of the ankle. These ligaments connect bones in the ankle joint and provide stability, helping to prevent excessive side-to-side movement. They play an essential role in maintaining balance and supporting activities like walking or running. When these ligaments are injured, often due to twisting or rolling the ankle, it can lead to pain, swelling, and difficulty walking. Commonly, these injuries are referred to as “ankle sprains.” Proper treatment and rehabilitation can help restore function and prevent future issues.
