Posterior Talofibular Ligament
The posterior talofibular ligament is a strong band of tissue that connects the fibula (the smaller bone on the outer side of your lower leg) to the talus (a bone in your ankle). It helps stabilize the ankle joint, especially preventing the foot from slipping outward and backward. This ligament is part of the lateral ligament complex, which provides support during ankle movement. Injuries to this ligament, such as tears or sprains, often occur from ankle rolling or twisting, leading to pain, swelling, and instability. Proper care and rehabilitation are important to restore ankle strength and function.
