King James I
King James I of England, who reigned from 1603 to 1625, was the first monarch to unite England and Scotland under one crown, becoming James VI of Scotland and James I of England. He is notable for commissioning the King James Version of the Bible, a significant English translation that remains influential today. His reign also saw the establishment of the first permanent English colony in America, Jamestown, in 1607. Despite his attempts to promote peace and religious tolerance, his rule faced challenges, including political conflict and tensions with Parliament, setting the stage for future struggles over governance.
