Hampton Court Conference

The Hampton Court Conference was a meeting held in January 1604 between King James I of England and various religious leaders, primarily Puritans and church officials. Its main aim was to address issues concerning the Church of England’s practices and governance following James's accession to the throne. The conference resulted in some concessions to the Puritans, including the authorization of a new translation of the Bible, which became known as the King James Version. However, it ultimately reinforced the structure of the established Church, maintaining the Anglican order and practices.
