Justified True Belief
Justified True Belief is a traditional theory of knowledge that states for someone to truly know something, three criteria must be met: the belief must be true, the person must believe it, and there must be justification for this belief (evidence or reasons supporting it). In the context of Foundationalism, which suggests that knowledge is built on certain basic beliefs that are self-evident or beyond doubt, Justified True Belief plays a critical role. Foundationalism seeks to establish a firm groundwork for knowledge by ensuring that beliefs are not just accepted but are also justified by solid reasoning or evidence.
