Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), often referred to as the Iran nuclear deal, is an agreement made in 2015 between Iran and six major powers: the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, China, and Germany. The deal aimed to limit Iran's nuclear program to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons, in exchange for lifting economic sanctions. Key provisions included reducing uranium enrichment and increasing inspections. In 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the agreement, leading to tensions and varying responses from other signatories regarding Iran's nuclear activities. As of now, discussions about reinstating the deal continue.
