The Iran Nuclear Deal
The Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was reached in 2015 between Iran and six major world powers (the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, China, and Germany). It aimed to limit Iran's nuclear program to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in exchange for lifting economic sanctions. Under the agreement, Iran reduced its uranium enrichment and allowed international inspections. However, in 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the deal, reimposing sanctions, which led to heightened tensions and Iran gradually resuming its nuclear activities beyond the deal's limits.
