Iran Nuclear Deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action)
The Iran Nuclear Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), is an agreement reached in 2015 between Iran and six world powers (the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, China, and Germany). It aimed to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for lifting economic sanctions. The deal intended to ensure that Iran could not develop nuclear weapons by restricting uranium enrichment and increasing inspections. However, in 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the agreement, leading to renewed tensions and Iran gradually resuming certain nuclear activities, complicating diplomatic relations surrounding nuclear non-proliferation.
