Italian East Africa
Italian East Africa was a colonial territory established by Italy in the 1930s, encompassing areas of present-day Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia. It aimed to create a significant Italian presence in Africa, following earlier colonization efforts. The territory faced resistance and conflict, notably during Ethiopia's resistance and the Second Italo-Ethiopian War (1935-1936). Although briefly successful, Italian rule ended after World War II, leading to the liberation of Ethiopia and the eventual independence of Eritrea and Somalia. This period significantly impacted the region's political landscape and relationships, leaving lasting legacies that still influence East Africa today.
