Iron Age in the Americas

The term "Iron Age" typically refers to a period in history marked by the widespread use of iron for tools and weapons, most commonly associated with regions in Europe and Asia. However, in the Americas, there wasn't a distinct Iron Age. Indigenous societies developed advanced metallurgy, primarily with gold, silver, and copper, but large-scale iron production did not occur until after European contact in the 15th century. As a result, the traditional Iron Age framework does not apply to pre-Columbian America, where different technological and cultural developments took place.
