Tairona

The Tairona were an indigenous people living in the northern region of present-day Colombia, particularly in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. They were known for their advanced agricultural practices, intricate goldwork, and well-organized society. The Tairona thrived before the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. Their civilization included several chiefdoms, and they built impressive stone structures and terraces for farming. Although many aspects of their culture were disrupted by colonization, their descendants still preserve their heritage and traditions today, contributing to Colombia's rich cultural tapestry.
