Internal Working Models
Internal Working Models are mental frameworks we develop based on our early experiences, particularly in relationships. They shape how we view ourselves, others, and the world. For example, if a child receives consistent love and support, they may grow up believing they are worthy of care and that others are generally trustworthy. Conversely, inconsistent or negative experiences can lead to doubts about oneself and mistrust of others. These models influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in relationships throughout life, guiding how we connect with others and respond to challenges.
