Idi Amin

Idi Amin was a military leader and dictator who ruled Uganda from 1971 to 1979. Initially gaining power through a coup, he was known for his brutal regime, marked by widespread human rights abuses, political repression, and the expulsion of Asians from Uganda. Amin promoted himself as a champion of African nationalism but was often viewed as erratic and tyrannical. His rule led to economic decline and violence, resulting in the deaths of an estimated hundreds of thousands of people. Amin was eventually overthrown and went into exile, living in several countries before his death in 2003.
