Lira
Lira was the currency used in Turkey before they adopted the Turkish lira (TRY) in 2005. Historically, the term "lira" refers to a unit of currency symbolizing monetary value. It functioned as Turkey’s official money, facilitating everyday transactions, savings, and commerce. Like other currencies, it had denominations in coins and banknotes. The modern Turkish lira replaced the old lira after a currency revaluation to stabilize the economy, and today, the lira is the official currency of Turkey, continuing its role as the medium of exchange in the country.
