Human muscle metabolism
Human muscle metabolism refers to the biochemical processes that allow our muscles to generate and use energy during physical activity. When you exercise, your body breaks down nutrients, primarily carbohydrates and fats, to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of cells. This process can occur with or without oxygen, leading to aerobic (with oxygen) and anaerobic (without oxygen) pathways. Oxygen-rich activities are more efficient for long-duration exercise, while anaerobic metabolism provides quick energy for short bursts of strength or speed. Ultimately, efficient muscle metabolism is vital for overall physical performance and stamina.
