Home Army

The Home Army, or Armia Krajowa, was the main underground resistance force in Poland during World War II. Established by the Polish government-in-exile, it consisted of soldiers and civilians who fought against Nazi occupation and aimed to defend Polish sovereignty. The Home Army organized sabotage missions, gathered intelligence for the Allies, and participated in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, a significant but tragic attempt to liberate Warsaw. Despite their bravery, they faced severe repression from both the Nazis and later, the Soviet-backed communist authorities. Their legacy remains a symbol of Polish resistance and nationalism.
