Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) is a medical procedure used to treat certain blood disorders, such as leukemia or lymphoma. It involves replacing unhealthy bone marrow with healthy stem cells, which can produce new, healthy blood cells. The process typically starts with chemotherapy or radiation to prepare the body, followed by the infusion of stem cells, which can come from the patient (autologous) or a donor (allogeneic). HSCT can help restore normal blood cell production, improve immunity, and enhance survival in patients with severe blood-related conditions.
