Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza, located near Cairo, Egypt, is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and dates back to around 2580–2560 BC. Built as a tomb for the Pharaoh Khufu, it is the largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex, standing at about 481 feet tall. Constructed from millions of limestone blocks, it demonstrates advanced engineering techniques of ancient Egypt. Originally covered in smooth, white Tura limestone, its outer casing has mostly worn away. The pyramid reflects the civilization’s beliefs in the afterlife and the significance of the pharaohs.
