Genomic DNA

Genomic DNA is the complete set of genetic information housed within the cells of an organism. It contains instructions for building and maintaining that organism, encoded in sequences of nucleotides (the building blocks of DNA). This information determines traits like eye color and influences overall development. In humans, genomic DNA is organized into structures called chromosomes, found in the nucleus of each cell. Variations in genomic DNA among individuals account for genetic diversity. Advances in genetics allow us to study these differences, leading to breakthroughs in medicine, biotechnology, and our understanding of biology.
