Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA)

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was a region in Pakistan that comprised several tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan. Governed directly by the federal government rather than a provincial authority, FATA had unique legal and administrative frameworks under British colonial laws. In 2018, it was merged into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to bring it under the regular provincial system. This change aimed to improve governance, development, and security in the region, which had historically faced challenges due to its autonomous status and ongoing conflicts. The merge was seen as a step towards integrating FATA's communities into mainstream Pakistan.
