FATA

FATA, or the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, was a region in Pakistan that existed from 1947 until 2018. It comprised several tribal districts along the Afghan border and was governed directly by the federal government rather than provincial authorities. FATA had a unique legal status, with local customs heavily influencing governance. In 2018, it was merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, aiming to integrate its population into the broader legal and administrative framework of Pakistan. The region has faced challenges such as militancy and underdevelopment, making its integration a significant step in promoting stability and development.
