East Bengal
East Bengal refers to the eastern part of the Bengal region in South Asia, which is now primarily known as Bangladesh. Historically, it was part of British India until the partition in 1947, when it became East Pakistan. Cultural and linguistic differences led to tensions with West Pakistan, ultimately resulting in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, when East Pakistan gained independence and became Bangladesh. Today, Bangladesh is known for its rich culture, agriculture, and significant economic growth, despite challenges such as poverty and natural disasters.
