Donald Dewar

Donald Dewar was a Scottish politician and a prominent figure in the Labour Party. He is best known as the first First Minister of Scotland, a position he held after Scotland gained its own parliament in 1999 following devolution. Dewar played a key role in shaping Scotland's modern governance and was instrumental in advocating for Scottish self-rule. Nicknamed the "Father of the Scottish Parliament," he was known for his dedication to social justice and public service. Tragically, he passed away in 2000, shortly after taking office, but his legacy continues to influence Scottish politics.
