Campaign for a Scottish Parliament
The Campaign for a Scottish Parliament was a political movement that sought to establish a devolved legislative body for Scotland. Emerging in the late 20th century, it aimed to give Scotland more control over its own affairs, such as education, health, and transportation. Supporters argued that a Scottish Parliament would better represent the interests of Scottish people. Their efforts culminated in a referendum in 1997, where a majority voted in favor. Consequently, the Scottish Parliament was established in 1999, granting Scotland significant political powers and allowing for greater self-governance within the United Kingdom.
