Dolly the sheep

Dolly the Sheep was the first mammal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell, created in 1996 by scientists in Scotland. Using a technique called somatic cell nuclear transfer, they transferred the nucleus from a mature sheep's cell into an egg cell from which the nucleus had been removed. The resulting embryo developed into Dolly, who was genetically identical to the donor sheep. This breakthrough raised important ethical and scientific questions about cloning, genetics, and the potential for cloning in medicine and agriculture, making it a significant milestone in biotechnology and genetics research.
