Dara Shikoh
Dara Shikoh (1615-1659) was the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and a notable Indian prince. He is often remembered for his progressive views and efforts to promote unity between different religions, particularly Hinduism and Islam. Dara translated important Hindu texts and sought to foster dialogue between faiths. He was a patron of arts and culture, advocating for a more inclusive society. However, his liberal values put him at odds with more conservative factions within the Mughal court, ultimately leading to his defeat by his brother Aurangzeb in a struggle for succession.
