Crystal arthropathy

Crystal arthropathy is a type of arthritis caused by the accumulation of crystal deposits in the joints. The most common forms are gout, resulting from uric acid crystals, and pseudogout, caused by calcium pyrophosphate crystals. These crystals can trigger intense pain, swelling, and inflammation in the affected joints. Factors like diet, genetics, and certain health conditions can increase the risk of developing crystal arthropathies. Treatment often involves medications to relieve pain and inflammation, as well as lifestyle changes to manage the underlying causes, such as diet modifications or hydration.
