Continental System
The Continental System was a trade policy established by Napoleon Bonaparte in the early 19th century. It aimed to weaken Britain economically by prohibiting European nations from trading with the British. Through this blockade, Napoleon sought to strengthen French economic power and control over Europe. However, the system was difficult to enforce, led to widespread smuggling, and ultimately harmed the economies of allied nations. The failure of the Continental System contributed to rising tensions across Europe and played a role in Napoleon's eventual downfall.
