Black Wall Street

Black Wall Street refers to the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a thriving African American community in the early 20th century known for its prosperous businesses, schools, and cultural institutions. It became a symbol of Black excellence and economic independence. However, in 1921, it was devastated during the Tulsa Race Massacre, when white mobs attacked the neighborhood, resulting in significant loss of life and destruction of property. The tragedy represents systemic racism and the challenges faced by Black communities in America, highlighting the need for recognition, remembrance, and ongoing discussions about racial equity.
