Tulsa Race Riot
The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 was a violent attack in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where a thriving Black community called Greenwood was attacked by white mobs. Tensions arose after a Black man was accused of assaulting a white woman, though the accusation was likely false. Over two days, white rioters looted, burned, and destroyed homes, businesses, and churches in Greenwood, killing dozens of Black residents and displacing many more. It is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in U.S. history, highlighting the brutal realities of segregation, racial inequality, and violence against Black Americans in the early 20th century.
