Biomagnification

Biomagnification is the process by which certain harmful substances, like heavy metals or toxins, increase in concentration as they move up the food chain. When small organisms absorb these substances from their environment, they can accumulate in their bodies. As larger animals eat these smaller ones, the toxins build up even more. This means top predators, like eagles or humans, may have much higher levels of these harmful substances than the plants and animals at the bottom of the food chain. It highlights the importance of protecting ecosystems to prevent pollution from affecting wildlife and human health.
