Ashanti Empire
The Ashanti Empire was a powerful kingdom in West Africa, located in what is now Ghana, from the late 17th to the early 20th century. Known for its rich resources, particularly gold, the empire was famous for its advanced governance, military strength, and cultural achievements. The Ashanti people had a centralized government led by a king, or Asantehene, and a complex social structure. They developed a unique system of laws and customs, and their art, especially kente cloth, is celebrated worldwide. The empire faced conflicts with European powers but left a lasting legacy in West African history.
