Treaty of Fomena

The Treaty of Fomena, signed in 1850, marked a significant agreement between the British Empire and the Ashanti Empire in present-day Ghana. It aimed to regulate trade and relations between the two powers, establishing boundaries and reducing conflicts over trade routes and resources. The treaty recognized the Ashanti's authority while allowing the British to secure their commercial interests.
