Arboviral Encephalitis
Arboviral encephalitis refers to a group of brain infections caused by viruses transmitted mainly by mosquitoes and ticks. Common types include West Nile virus and Eastern equine encephalitis. Symptoms often range from mild fever and headache to severe neurological issues, such as seizures or confusion. The risk of infection is higher in warm, humid areas where these insects thrive. While many people recover fully, some may experience long-term effects. Prevention focuses on reducing mosquito exposure through repellents, clothing, and eliminating standing water where they breed. Vaccines are available for certain viruses, particularly for at-risk populations.
