Arbovirus
Arboviruses are a group of viruses transmitted to humans through bites from infected arthropods, such as mosquitoes and ticks. These viruses can cause illnesses ranging from mild flu-like symptoms to severe diseases like dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and yellow fever. They are called "arboviruses" because "arbo" refers to their association with arthropods. The viruses replicate inside these insects and are passed on when they feed on humans. Preventing infection involves controlling insect populations, using protective clothing, and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed. Arboviruses pose significant public health challenges in many tropical and subtropical regions.
