Chikungunya

Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted primarily by mosquitoes, particularly the Aedes species. It causes fever, severe joint pain, headaches, muscle pain, and rashes. Although it is rarely fatal, the joint pain can persist for months or even years after infection, significantly affecting quality of life. The disease is found in tropical and subtropical regions, often following outbreaks. There is currently no specific antiviral treatment or vaccine, so prevention focuses on reducing mosquito exposure and breeding. Awareness and control measures are crucial to managing and preventing the spread of Chikungunya.
