Anglo-Norman history
Anglo-Norman history refers to the period following the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. Led by William the Conqueror, the Normans from present-day France defeated King Harold at the Battle of Hastings. This event transformed England, introducing Norman culture, language, and governance. The Normans built castles and restructured the feudal system, which altered land ownership and social hierarchy. Over time, English and Norman cultures blended, leading to the development of Middle English. The Anglo-Norman period laid the groundwork for the political, social, and linguistic landscape of modern England.
