Angelos Dynasty

The Angelos Dynasty was a ruling family in the Byzantine Empire from the late 12th to early 13th century. It began with Isaac II Angelos, who came to power in 1185. The dynasty faced significant challenges, including internal strife and external threats, particularly from the Crusaders and the growing power of neighboring states. Their reign saw the fall of Constantinople to the Fourth Crusade in 1204, which led to the establishment of a Latin Empire. The Angelos rulers struggled to maintain control and legitimacy, ultimately marking a period of decline for Byzantine authority.
