Isaac II Angelos

Isaac II Angelos was a Byzantine Emperor who ruled from 1185 to 1195 and again in 1203 until his deposition in 1204. He came from a noble family and ascended to the throne after a coup. His reign was marked by military challenges, including conflicts with the Normans and internal strife. He struggled to maintain control over the empire and faced significant opposition. Isaac was eventually overthrown by his brother and later by the Crusaders during the Fourth Crusade. His reign highlights the turmoil of the Byzantine Empire during a critical period of its history.
