Ametropia
Ametropia is a term used to describe a vision condition where the eye doesn't focus light correctly on the retina, leading to blurred vision. The main types include myopia (nearsightedness), where distant objects appear blurry; hyperopia (farsightedness), where close objects are blurry; and astigmatism, which causes overall distortion due to an irregular eye shape. Ametropia is common and can usually be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery, allowing individuals to see clearly at different distances. It arises from the eye's shape, the curvature of the cornea, or the lens's flexibility.
