Presbyopia
Presbyopia is a common age-related condition that affects the ability to focus on nearby objects. As people age, the lens of the eye becomes less flexible, making it harder to change shape for close-up vision, such as reading or using a smartphone. This typically starts around the age of 40 and continues to progress. Symptoms may include difficulty reading small print or needing to hold books further away. While it's a natural part of aging, presbyopia can be managed with reading glasses, contact lenses, or other vision correction options.
