Aldosterone
Aldosterone is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, which sit on top of the kidneys. Its main role is to help regulate blood pressure and fluid balance in the body. It does this by signaling the kidneys to retain sodium and water, increasing blood volume and pressure. At the same time, it causes the kidneys to excrete potassium. This balance is vital for maintaining healthy blood pressure levels and proper functioning of muscles and nerves. Aldosterone's activity is influenced by signals from the body, such as blood salt levels, blood pressure, and certain hormones.
