Abd al-Mu'min

Abd al-Mu'min (c. 1094–1163) was a prominent Muslim leader who founded the Almohad Caliphate in North Africa. Initially a Berber reformer, he sought to unite Muslims under strict religious beliefs and oppose the more moderate Almoravid dynasty. He successfully expanded his territory, conquering parts of modern-day Morocco, Algeria, and Spain, promoting Islamic law and culture. Abd al-Mu'min is also known for his efforts in establishing a cohesive governance structure and supporting intellectual and architectural advancements. His reign marked a significant period in Islamic history, influencing both the region's politics and its religious landscape.
